I usually don’t like easy readers that much, but I admit that they can be useful at times, and I find that the questions at the end of each chapter are actually worth answering to. They make you go back to the text and really make sure you have understood some things, and they make you repeat the words in the text in writing, that which is always a good thing. Here are some photos of what my easy reader of Идиот looks like, a book Aleksey sent me.

I am hoping to read 10 pages a day at work as well as answer all the questions, and thus finish the book rather quickly

Before this book, I read Герой нашего времени in a dual text, and after it I am tempted by many different things. I would like to read a play, but also a more modern book (for example Сережа by Вера Панова, an author Kato Lomb recommended for beginners) and, as always, Грозовой Перева!

Давно, давно, моя мама была в Советском Союзе с её школой, и она там покупила некоторые детские книги (не знаю почему, она не говорит по-русский, но может быть она знала, что однако у неё будет дочь, которая учила бы русский). У меня сейчас, по крайней мере один из этих книг. Я её не прочитала ещё, но она очень мне нравится. Цветы и рисование фантастические Думаю, что она является моей самой красивой и заветной (русской) книгой. Я всегда любила старые книги. Вот немного фоток и одна песня.

Perfectives of unidirectional verbs

The perfectives are formed with the prefix по-: пойти, поехать, побежать, полететь…

* The perfectives denote the beginning of movement, setting of for a destination, etc.

- the English «went» which refers to one-way journeys can be rendered by the perfective of a unidirectional verb
- the future of a perfective unidirectional verb can be used independantly or with the future perfective of another verb
- it may also denote the new phase of a motion already in progress, for example a change in tempo

He has gone to the post office (compare with он ходил на почту = he went and came back)
– Она поехала за границу (поехать, setting off for a destination)
She has gone abroad (compare with она ездила за границу…)
– Он понёс книгу в библютеку (понести, setting off for a destination)
He has taken the book to the library (and has not yet come back)
– Я пойду с тобой (пойти, future pf. verb used independantly)
I will go with you.
– Пойду покурю (пойти, future pf. verb used with another future pf verb)
I’ll go and have a smoke.
– Они шли медленно, потом пошли быстрее (идти, пойти, indicating a new phase)
They were walking along slowly, then quickened their pace
– Он шёл по бегеру, но побежал увидев меня (идти, побежать, indicating a new phase)
He was walking along the shore but broke into a run on catching sight of me.

Special meanings of ПОЙТИ

1. To start walking of a toddler: он пошёл с десяти месяцев
2. To start school of an infant: Миша с этом году пошёл в школу
3. Я пошёл! = I’m off!
4. Поехали! = Let’s go!

Perfectives of multidirectional verbs

These perfectives are also formed with по-: походить, поездить

* They denote an action of short duration in the past or future

Multidirectional

(iterative)

* Action in general, a capacity to perform it, to know how to perform it, like performing it, etc.

- they often combine wih verbs such as любить, предпочитать, уметь, учиться.
- they denote movement in various directions, up and down, round and round, to and fro, backwards and forwards. The meaning of motion «around» or «about» is often expressed by по+дательный (dative) or with в/на+предложный if it indicates a nondirected motion «in a place»
- they denote habitual action, expressed as return journeys.
Примеры:

– Я хорошо бегаю на коньках (бегать, qualification of a general action)
I skate well
– Он предпочитает ходить пешком, она ездит а автобусе или в трамвае (ходить, ездить, with предпочитает, )
He prefers to walk, she goes by bus or tram.
– Я умею водить машину (водить, transitive verb, with уметь)
I know how to drive.
– В сарае летали белогрудные ласточки (летать, movement in various direction)
White-breasted swallows were flying about in the shed.
– Николай стал ходить по комнате (ходить, movement in various direction)
Nikolaj began to walk up and down the room.
– По воскресеньям мы будем ездить за город (ездить, habitual)
On Sundays we shall drive into the country.
– Я хожу в церковь (ходить, habit)
I go to chuch.

* Use of the past tense of a multidirectional verb to denote a single return journey

- the past tense (but never the present or future) can denote a single return journey – it can be a reply to the question Где ты был? = a roundtrip is needed
- sentences which refer to a return journey may also report what happened at the point of destination, between the outward and return legs of the trip.
- it is also used in interrogative and negative sentences which refer to return trips.

– На прошлой неделе она ездила в Лондон (ездить, one single trip back & forth)
Last week she went to London (and back).
– Она недавно возила детей в Нью-Йорк (возить, transitive verb, one single trip back & forth).
Recently she took the children to New York (and came back). Compare with: Она отвезла детей в Нью-Йорк (везти)
She took the children to New York (and returned alone).
– Пока я бегал за фотоаппаратом к машине, олень ушёл (бегать, motion to and fro once)
By the time I had run to the car for my camera the deer had gone. Compare with: пока я бежал where it means the subject was still running towards the car when the deer disappeared, since no return is implied in the unidirectional verb.
– Ходил с отцом в зоопарк и там катался на маленькой лошадке (ходить, what happened between the outward trip and return)
I went with my father to the zoo, where I had a ride on a little horse.
– Ты ходил в школу сегодня? (ходить, questions implying return trips)
Did you go to school today?

Я здесь так долго ничего не написала потому что я сейчас пишу в сайте lang-8.com, который, по-моему, практичнее и проще в использовании, чем нормальный блог. Ну нормальные блоги более красивые :/

Я совершенно не знаю хорошо (или правильно) употреблять русские глаголы, поэтому я думала, что очень хорошая идея была бы начинать с глаголами движения. ХАХА. Я это здесь пишу чтобы легко потом найти информацию, например когда я в работе и хочу говорить о моём желание идти домой.

Глаголы

(unidirectional/multidirectional), несовершённые

идти / ходить  =  to go, walk

ехать / ездить  =   to travel, ride

бежать / бегать  =  to run

лететь / летать  =  to fly

плыть / плавать  =  to swim

нести / носить  =  to carry (while walking)

вести / водить  =  to lead

везти / возить  =  to convey, to transport

Unidirectional

Зачем? Функции.

* Movement in one particular direction (not necessarily in a straight line), usually on one occasion, always advancing the subject or object along a line of progression

- the destination may be specified or unspecified, or generally specified (east, west)
- a goal or destination is expressed by the preposition на + внительный (acc) of nouns denoting places, or к + дательный (dat) for nouns denoting people. A goal can also be expressed by directional adverbs, домой, сюда, туда.
- in the past and future tenses, the unidirectional verbs are usually used to provide a background against which some other action occurs. The verb of motion is in one clause, and in the other we can have an imperfective or perfective verb:

1. Imperfective: it is a simultaneous action, it occurs as the same time as the verb of motion.
2. Perfective: it is an action that will be completed or was completed during the time the motion was/will be in progress.

NOTE: The future of unidirectional verbs is less common than the present/past.

– Некоторые время мы шли молча (идти, one occasion) – For some time we walked along in silence
– Три дня и три ночи нас везли в арестантском вагоне (везти, one occasion) – For three days and nights we were transported in a convict truck.
– Он плыл против ветра и был слабее нас (плыть, progression) – He was swimming against the current and was weaker than we were.
– Шурка долго шёл лесом, унося ежа подальше от жилья (идти, progression) – Shurka walked through the forest for a long while, carrying the hedgehog further and further away from human habitation.
– К заливу шли через парк (идти, specified direction) – They were walking through the park towards the bay
– Поезд шёл на восток (идти, general direction) — The train was on its way east.
– Когда я летел в самолете, я читал детектив (past of лететь, past of imperfective читать, background with simultaneous ongoing action) – When I was flying in the airplane, I was reading a detective novel.
– Когда ты будешь идти мимо киоска, купи мне газету (future of идти, perfective купить, background, action that will be completed) – When you are walking past the newsstand, buy me a newspaper.

Unidirectional verbs are often translated into english with «are [verb]ing», «was [verb]ing».

* Movement in one particular direction in frequentative contexts

- habitual actions are usually expressed using multidirectional verbs, but there are exceptions:

1. When movement in one direction is particularly stressed.
2. Where references is to actions or processes occuring in sequence.

– Я иду на работу целых полчаса (идти, movement in one direction) – I take a whole half-hour to get to work. compare with: Каждый день я хожу на работу. (Every day I go to work (and back))
– Обычно я иду с работы пешком, а на работу еду на автобусе (идти, ехать, movement in one direction) – I usually walk home from work but go to work on the bus
– Письма 5-6 дней идут отсюда в Россию (идти, movement in one direction) – Letters take 5-6 days to get from here to Russia
– Когда я иду на работу, я всегда покупаю газету (идти, within a given time frame, background) - When I am on my way to work, I always buy a newspaper
– Осенью журавли летят на юг (летить, in one direction, within a time frame) – In the autumn the cranes fly south
– Каждое утро встаю, завтракаю и иду на автобусную остановку (идти, in sequence) – Every morning I get up, eat breafast and go to the bus stop.
– Каждый год, как только наступает лето, я еду на море (ехать, sequence) – Every year, as soon as summer comes, I am off to the sea-side (compare with: Каждый год я езжу на море – Every year I go off to the sea-side and come back)

* Other usages

- an unidirectional verb in the present tense may be used to denote an action that is intended for the near future.
- when there is special focus on some circumstance or characteristic of the one-way motion, like the speed or the manner or the means of travel.
- figurative motion in idiomatic expressions.

– Сегодня вечером я иду в кино (идти, near future) – Tonight I’m going to the movies.
– Письмо шло к нам неделю (идти, circumstance – speed of travel) – The letter reached us in a week.
– Она шла в кинотеатр одна (идти, circumstance – how she went) – She went to the cinema alone.
– Как летит время! (лететь, idiomatic expression) – How time flies!
– Сегодня шёл дождь (идти, idiomatic expression) – It rained today.
– Летом здесь часто идут дождь (идти, idiomatic expression) - In the summer it often rains here.
– Что идёт в кинотеатре? (идти, idiomatic expression) – What’s playing at the cinema?

Я ничего не могу делать сейчас, у меня нет мотивации, нет силы. Мы должны двинуть. Наша квартира продаётся. Нет квартиры в Осло, которые такие дешёвые как эта квартира (только 970 евро каждый месяц…). Вот почему я немного беспокойная. В добавление ко всему, Firefox не работает. И у меня впечатление, что я сегодня не могу писать по-русски. Каждое слово что я хочу использовать странное по-русски, странное потому что оно неизвестное для меня, и я знаю (почти), что по-русски этот не скажут таким образом.

У нас была буря. Дикая буря, прекрасная буря. Для Норвегии, конечно. И она была здесь, над нашего голов. За исключение этого, все здесь странно пустой.
