I have a book on the Roots of the Russian language. I thought it was about time I actually started using it. So all of these posts will use the material from that book.

ЛЮД- people

люди (people)
Что это за люди? What are these people? (What sort of people are they?)

люд-о-ед (cannibal)
Людоеды существуют и теперь. Cannibals exist (may be found) even now.

люд-ской (people’s, popular)
От людской молвы часто страдают. One often suffers from people’s talk (from gossip).

много-люд-ный (crowded)
Он вышёл в многолюдный храм. He walked into a crowded temple.

не-люд-имка (unsociable person, recluse)
Вы совсем превратились в нелюдимку. You have become a veritable recluse.
